Mission Statement:
Through the Riverslea School Inquiry Learning Model students will be MOTIVATED, ENGAGED, CONFIDENT and ACHIEVE.
Riverslea School is an urban primary school established in 1958, catering for the needs of students from year levels 0 to 6. The roll is predominantly Maori. Special features of the school include the Whanau perspective that extends to the community, and the wide collaborative team approach with many people working together to empower students. A particular strength of the school is that students develop and learn in a supportive environment. Teachers are good role models and skilfully [[#|manage]] their classrooms in a positive, affirming manner. Parents are encouraged to be involved in their children’s learning. Students are expected to be proud, caring and effective learners. Adults within the school community actively nurture these qualities in students through initiatives such as Tu Tangata and the ‘SWEET AS’ behaviour management plan. The Principal and Board Chairperson provide very high quality leadership for the school. The team approach extends to the development of strong and effective partnership with Trustees and Staff. Consultation and involvement of the community are positive features of the school organisation.
